It’s Like Netflix, But With Toys

April 30, 2008; 8:01 am by Joyce Slaton

BabyPlays ToysAs your baby whizzes through developmental stages, discarded toys litter your place like shrapnel. A greener option is BabyPlays Toy Rental Program, which works much like Netflix: you pay a monthly fee ($36.99-64.99), you pick toys to put in your queue, and then the UPS guy starts visiting your house with much greater frequency. You can hang on to toys as long as you like with no late fees, or ship duds back right away to be exchanged for ones your child might prefer. If it turns out your kid really loves a particular toy, you can even purchase it at a delightfully discounted price.

Feeling squeamish about your kid getting pre-drooled-upon playthings? No need. BabyPlays sanitizes toys each time they return back home.

  1. That’s an awesome idea, though i feel bad for the people i’ve been giving all my toy hand-me-downs to.

  2. bad idea. i wouldn’t want my child getting sick from babies who have chewed on the same toys…..i dont believe they sanitize. And it’s way too expensive.

  3. why would you feel bad about giving toys away?

  4. I’d be totally intrigued if it weren’t so expensive.

  5. It’s too expensive! If you buy toys at discount stores like Marshalls (like I do), it’s definitely not worthy.

  6. They sanitize with Clorox! Bad choice.

  7. That is a great idea but an extremely expensive pricepoint.

  8. You can always sanitize it yourself when it gets there. But if they santize with bleach that is disturbing. Also, no matter how sanitized it is, i would not feel comfortable with it being in my kids mouth..

    Also very expensive.

  9. Right off the website: BabyPlays takes the health and safety of your children very seriously. BabyPlays Toys are sanitized using a 100% All Natural, Organic cleaning product that is approved by the EPA. For more information on what product we are using for sanitization please e-mail: cleantoys@babyplays.com

  10. I searched by age and it did not seem like there were enough toys to select from.

  11. Spend money on toys??? I don’t think so. Between flea markets, garage sales and recycling days I’ve picked up 4 MacLarren’s, countless puzzles, balls, beach items, books, bouncy seats, rocking horses, cars, cars, cars, markers, playsets and on and on, for nothing or next to it.

  12. This is a great idea for people who don’t have space for toys, but extremely expensive considering you keep nothing (about $324 per year, for their base-level plan.) If another company comes out with a lower price point, watch out Babyplays!

  13. AFAIC that’s the best aswner so far!

  14. XVU1cz Informative, but not convincing. Something is missing but what I can not understand. But I will say frankly: bright and benevolent thoughts!….

  15. PbAglY I`m so grateful that you enlightened me and the most important thing that it happened in time. Just think, I have been using the internet for six years already but it`s the first time I`ve ever heard about it!….
