In the pre-baby days, you were queen of the dance floor at the Copacabana. New York is home to its own style of Latin music, and you’d love to pass down your mambo magic. Too bad the party usually gets started after the kids’ bedtime.
Baby Loves Salsa presents a new CD featuring real salsa music under the direction of singer Jose Conde and Grammy-winning producer Aaron Levinson of the Spanish Harlem Orchestra. Musicians from various Caribbean countries take on names like “Chico Chocolate” and “Celia La Cruz” to present danceable family tunes.
If playing at-home DJ doesn’t cut it, a free family concert at Joe’s Pub on Saturday morning features an all-star band performing the CD’s bilingual tunes including “Mi Familia es la Musica” (Music is My Family) among other originals. (The show is “sold out,” but you may be able to snag tickets as a standby).
Don’t forget your dancing shoes.
