How Does Your Garden Grow?

Friday, April 25th, 2008

“Urban gardening” usually means a plastic houseplant. But even the most space-challenged city dweller can cultivate a green thumb.

This weekend, head to the NYC GROWS Garden Festival in Union Square. Learn not only what varieties of plans to grow (houseplants obviously, as well as dwarf varieties to maximize outdoor space), and how to involve kids in the process. Stop by the demo tent for how-to tips, then check out the children’s area that includes a puppet mobile, family cooking activities and a play zone.

Think of it as an intro to the sciences – a little botany could come in handy on the SHSAT one day.

When: Sun. 4/27, 10am-5pm.
Where: Union Square Park South Plaza at 14th St., nationalgardenmonth.org.
